About Navajo

Navajo (or Navaho), is the language spoken by the Navajo people, who live mostly in southwestern United States. Navajo is the most commonly spoken Native American language north of the US-Mexico border. Currently there are more than 100,000 native speakers, and the number is growing. During World War II, code talkers in the United States Marines successfully used a code based on Navajo to send secure telephone and radio messages.
